Half Good

OK - last 16 2nd legs 2nd day - from yesterday’s matches we surmised that maybe one out of the three teams with a 3 goal deficit could turn the tide and climb out of that formidable hole & indeed somebody did, Sporting Lisbon (they did need 30 mins of extra time) clawed back the 3 goals in normal time and banged in 2 more to win the tie 5-3, pretty impressive - poor Bodo looked thoroughly hacked off at the end of their fairytale Champions League campaign - The buckets stuffed full of euros should salve their wounds.
Arsenal - courtesy of a couple of outstanding strikes won 2-0 to advance and neither Chelsea nor Man City could make it through - PSG look to be finding form at the right time.

Today?

2 games you don’t need to worry about - Bayern play at home with a 5 goal lead and Atletico Madrid go to the pretty much hapless Spurs holding yet another 3 goal lead.

Now the other 2 matches should be very very good. At 1.45 Newcastle play against the mighty Barcelona - BUT, Newcastle’s stronger physical performance last week will be stuck in Barca’s heads - Newcastle could have won last week comfortably and Barca got a penalty at the death to salvage a draw - If Newcastle score first this could be a very good match - however, there’s always the chance of being swept away by Barcelona’s formidable ability to score goals.

Lastly (at 4pm), we come to Anfield where Liverpool find themselves 1-0 down to Istanbul’s Galatasaray - one would think that Liverpool should canter to an easy victory, but their inability this season to finish off teams is worrisome as they displayed at home against Spurs at the weekend. And what on earth has happened to Mo Salah? - shocking how his contributions have fallen off, take a good look at him - he’ll not be wearing Liverpool red next season - no chance.
I still fancy Liverpool to make the last 8 - Like Bodo Glimt Galatasaray are pretty lucky to have made it this far, reckon it’s the end of the road for them this season - Could be wrong though - that’s why we watch.
